Research on psychological horrors

Introduction: Research on the psychological horror genre will help broaden my knowledge on this type of genre. I will also be able to undestand more on this genre for example featuers of a psychological horror. By researching this genre I will  be able produce a better level of understanding into this genre.

What is a psychological horror?
A psychological horror is a subgenre of a horror. The name of the genre suggests that this genre is based upon someone's mind as pyschology is about the mind. This genre focuses on emotions, intentions, peoples thoughts and a person's mind.

The difference between a slasher horror and a psychological horror:
Although both of these sub-genres come under a horror genre, they are different. A slasher horror film focuses on violence, blood, gore and killing. A slasher film also shows the murder of a victim or many victims. A psychological horror will build up suspense for the audience and show the killer to be manic or crazy. A well known example of a pyschological horror is Pyscho-produced by alfred hitchcock
